Which career development activities are right for your information security career?
We have collected a list of security resources intended for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and other security professionals new to their role in higher education. Recommendations are provided by members of the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC).
Getting Started
- Use the EDUCAUSE Member Directory to start your personal network. Create a profile and connect with professionals according to functional role (e.g., CISO), area of interest (e.g., Cybersecurity), or location.
- Join the Security Discussion list or another EDUCAUSE constituent group (e.g., IDM, CIO, ITCOMM).
- Join the REN-ISAC.
- Join a regional security group.
- Visit the Toolkit for New CISOs for additional resources.
- Visit the EDUCAUSE Advance Your Career page for additional professional development ideas.

Staying Current
- Read higher education IT-related publications such as:
- Current resources shared by HEISC on Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest
- Information Security Guide

- Presentations or other resources in the EDUCAUSE Library
