Attendees: Renee Shuey from PSU; Paul Riddle from UMBC; Jim Foxx, Bill Corrigan from U W; Eric Bailey, Yuemin Yu from Apple; and Teddy Salazar from Duke.

Per the email thread of the past month, the discussion centers around either use the user name or the user id but not both.

The user identifier is passed from shibboleth to iTunesU. It is used in three places. Nav bar, recording logs and uploaded content to be tagged in comments about the content.

Are these uses necessary? Display name is nice on the page, but for the logs and other things the username is preferred.  But for the upload tracking comments, it could be all things so that the end user could see the data and choose which is important to them.

We are talking about how iTunes U uses these values and not changing the attributes from Shibboleth.

For email address, which attribute shall we use?

Eric wants us to settle on attributes to pass to them that they use as credentials and they will use what we send them. It is an IDP question to them.

Eduperson entitlement seems to be the easiest place to put this according to Scott
Issues for this pilot project:

Use of eduperson entitlement: is this overloaded?

What is being passed to Apple? How do we filter only what is needed to Apple.

How to deal with inter-institutional assertions? This could be tabled for this project if it is not being used.

We will use eduperson entitlement for all strings, eduperson scoped affiliation could be used as well.

There is a Web service from Apple that gives you the entire iTunes U site for your school and that could be used as a filter to decide what gets sent to Apple. (Show Tree Operation) Google iTunes U Documentation to find this resource

Delete the username and add a second identifier, entitlement will represent course information for this pilot project and affiliation won't be used for this project, although it will be coded in by Apple.

Administrator entitlement is defined by Apple, and the IDP entitlement would define this. It is a course and a role.

Eric will summarize changes in the use of attributes that Apple will make.

What about a proof of concept around federating?  How about a test course?

Paul will raise the issue at UMBC to see if they have a use case.

Who's tested with the Apple IDP? UMBC, UW,

Apple needs to check logs

Hoping to have this all done by June 1.

Each institution should come up with a project plan for testing this pilot before the next call.

Apple will send an update on what's possible before the next call.
