Notes

Invitation letters - anyone willing to send the emails for some vendors? Foster will take a few. Kennedy will coordinate. As much as possible, would like to have lead institutions within this group for simplicity, but there were certainly enough volunteers in the survey.

Ann shared perspective from one of the vendors, from someone in the organization that would actually be the person to implement Shib/InCommon there. We should be sending mail to someone as high up in the sales structure, and someone that we know. Barriers exist with these vendors, even though they may have already been federating with the UK.
barriers:

  • still not sold on federated identity; questions more level of assurance, how institutions handle logins and such
  • the ability to detect abuse with shibboleth, because they have the means to do so now with IP methods
good to know, we may have pushback from vendors even though they may have already implemented shibboleth.

InCommon CAMP  (https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/InCCollaborate/2010/01/11/Dates+Announced+for+CAMP%2C+Advanced+CAMP)\- primary audience is service providers - new service providers - point them to this meeting as a place for them to find out what they need to do - save the date on the incommon federation page (mid-february incommonfederation.org/camp) june 21-23
2 tracks - new participants
  - existing participants (incommon and federal govt, presentation from our group)
case studies and a lot of discussion - CAMP size is approx 100-150

Testing - anyone ready to work with vendors as they join incommon? keep this in mind, thomson reuters and bioone may be coming on board in the next few weeks

Presentations - can we get these linked off the wiki? Andy will follow up after call
