Policy Reminder

  1. Roll call, agenda bash
  2. Briefing on the ongoing collaboration between the Illinois K12 Pilot and the Nebraska Pilot from Bernie A’cs, NCSA at the University of Illinois and Scott Isaacson, Nebraska Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council
    1. Helpful to have collaboration time together. The IlliniCloud have already instituted programs. Concepts they have implemented have been very helpful. This has been a timesaving effort in considering design and defining next steps to be used with school districts. They are in the process of evaluation all elements and they have found that there is actually a great deal of overlap which will save years of start up time.
      1. Multi-tenant IdP is an important feature to support
      2. The UPortal extension is a feature they are going to pursue
      3. The programs are a bit different but do parallel
      4. Nebraska is participating in the EdFi alliance
        1. The IlliniCloud has a richer functioning dashboard
        2. There have been at length discussions about building a sustainable statewide program
        3. This is also a great example of using vendors to springboard their work and create a sustainable system of software.
        4. They are looking forward to launching the program and working further with Illinois
        5. Parental consent is a factor they would like to pursue
    2. IlliniCloud has been working with national vendors. They community has been very receptive to using SAML. Next week the full team and constituents will be brought together for a “sprint planning session to build a model that can be replicated. WiscNet has also been participating. These conversations and collaborations have been very important and only helps in moving the construct forward. Especially since this is based on Open Source. There is a lot of similarity in how this can be set up state by state. There has been good feedback about the document Bernie is creating but it needs to be edited to a higher level non-technical format. This will be posted to the wiki when complete.
    3. Questions
      1.  Which services provider are the most interested
        1. Every vendor has expressed interested
          1. Discovery Ed, Pearson and a handful of other Vendors
          2. They are problem solving roster information and other information input
          3. They are encouraged by the ability of vendors to consider SAML
      2. Additional conversations will be warranted
