Announcements

  • There will be a face-to-face meeting of the CommIT collaborative at the PESC meeting, May 3-4, in Las Vegas. Arnie will explore providing a phone bridge to CommIT-related sessions at PESC if there is interest.
  • The technical group continues its work with user flows and is expected to demo that at the PESC meeting (and also at the InCommon Confab, April 26-27)
  • Arnie and Dave may go through those flows on the next call.
  • The NSTIC grant announcement is scheduled for next week.

Collaborative Scenarios

There was a review of the scenarios (https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/x/IaCVAQ) and which are the most compelling (and, hence, candidates to develop storyboards/wireframes for these). Dave reported that scenarios 1 and 2 are about finished. He is working on #4 and Tim is working on #3. Scenario 5 seems to be the institution’s view of #1, so if the other scenarios talk about benefits to the institution, we probably don’t need to do a separate storyboard/wireframe for that.

All of the wireframes are in a Box account. Licenses for the software used to create the wireframes are available from Arnie, if you are interested.

Benefits to Universities

There was a discussion about whether the benefits (of the CommIT approach) to universities needs to be made more explicit. What are the benefits of a stronger credential?

  • if students come to the university already identity-proofed (and the university is comfortable with the process), that is a benefit
  • what are the benefits from various stakeholder points of view (e.g. distance learning, financial aid)
  • Ann, Karen, and Louis agreed to work on a use case for distance learning.

Other Stories?

It might be beneficial to develop stories from the other end of the spectrum (alumni, someone who is an alumnus of multiple institutions). While this is out of scope right now, the stories would be beneficial later in the process.
