500th Participant Joins Internet2’s InCommon Community


Internet2 is proud to announce its 500th InCommon participant, Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. InCommon, Internet2’s trust services provider for U.S. education and research, now includes 337 higher education institutions, 28 government and non-profit research centers and agencies, and 135 corporate and non-profit partners.

"Hamilton College uses information resources and services from off-campus providers as a central part of our institutional portfolio,” said David Smallen, Hamilton’s vice president for information technology and director of the library. “InCommon is a strategic partner in helping us assure reliable access in a cost-effective manner."

InCommon experienced a 39 percent growth rate overall in 2012, starting the year with 354 participants and ending with 488. The InCommon Certificate Service grew by 50 percent, from 143 subscribers at the beginning of 2012 to 214 at the end of the year.
