1. Find a parent folder for the folder you will be creating. This should place you on the Browse Groups Hierarchy screen. Here we will select our new Grouper Book folder
- If you have permissions to assign privileges in this folder, you will see the "Manage folders" panel at the bottom of the page. If you do not see this panel, contact your administrator.
2. Click the "Show Entities with" at the bottom of the "Manage folders" panel. The "Current entities with [GrouperWG:Create Group] privilege" screen will appear.
3. Click "Assign this privilege" at the bottom of the "Entity list filtered by privilege" panel. The "Assign creation privileges for [GrouperWG:group name]" screen will appear.
4. In the field in the "Search people or groups" panel, type the search criteria for the member you want to add, then click the "Search" button. Your search results will appear.

Privilege requirements
You need ADMIN privileges on the folder to be able to grant others permissions to create objects within the folder. If you are a Grouper sysadmin you inherently have this privilege on every group.

- Navigate to the target folder (either by browsing the tree, or by searching). Click on the Privileges tab.
- Click the Add members button.
- Enter your search criteria in the Member name or ID field, and select the appropriate subject form the list. You can search for an individual person, or a group.
In the Assign these privileges section, select the CREATE privilege.
Message Box title Tip type generic The ADMIN privilege also allows creation of subfolder and groups within a folder, but also grants many other rights. Always choose the privilege that grants the least amount of access while still allowing the desired outcome.
- Click the Add button. Click the Add button. Note that the selected person or group is now listed in the list of entities with privileges, with the appropriate privilege(s) assigned.
