In the slide deck, John Chapman, Project Technical Advisor for Becta, mentions that for most applications, eduPersonScopedAffiliation (e.g. student@mtu.edu) and eduPersonTargedID (an anonymous identifier) are the primary attributes exchanged in their experience. See slide 14.
