1) SSL acceleration.

  • This was in our original design, fortunately, so we currently run an SSL offload and load-balancer appliance (a Citrix NetScaler) in front of the Confluence instance. This provides some firewall-like protection and performance enhancements. It would be great to be able to wrangle multiple Confluence machines via the load-balancing feature, but we'll talk a bit more about that in the "Clustering" section below. (SC)
