I had the idea of writing this "book" - a consolidation of documentation= on Grouper - after implementing Grouper at Cardiff University, and having = joined the Grouper developer team to contribute some code. It seemed clear = to me that the best way for me to make a difference to the project would be= to add to the documentation so that more people could come to understand w= hat Grouper is, what it can do, and how to implement it. As I write, I'm ha= lfway through a course to become a sailing instructor, so you may have to f= orgive the odd nautical reference.
