The TeraGrid project, funded by the National Science Foundation, is an open scientific discovery infrastructure combining leadership class resources at eleven partner sites to create an integrated, persistent computational resource. TeraGrid serves over 4,500 researchers from over 300 colleges, universities, and research institutions in the United States. TeraGrid resources are allocated to researchers by peer review. Researchers authenticate to TeraGrid resource providers and charge their usage to project accounts.

TeraGrid joined InCommon in August 2008. Researchers can now log in to TeraGrid using InCommon identity providers via the https://go.teragrid.org site, which was announced in September 2009. As of April 2010, the site accepts logins from 27 InCommon members (and growing). Technical details about federated login to TeraGrid were presented at IDtrust 2010. The TeraGrid project is now working to integrate the https://go.teragrid.org site with the main TeraGrid User Portal (https://portal.teragrid.org), to make InCommon login a more convenient option for TeraGrid researchers.
