InCommon has developed web pages that will draw their content from Federation metadata. These dynamic web pages leverage user interface elements (sometimes called MDUI elements) and requested attributes in metadata to display information about each identity provider and service provider in the Federation. InCommon site administrators can populate these elements via the administrative interface.

We encourage site administrators to submit your MDUI elements and requested attributes, otherwise, the web pages for your IdP or SPs will display error messages. These elements will also improve the overall federated user experience and are the initial steps to support user consent.

The MDUI elements include:

  • Logo
  • Display Name
  • Description
  • Information URL
  • Privacy Statement URL

Initially, this project includes:

  • a list of all identity providers deployed in the Federation
  • a list of all service providers deployed in the Federation
  • a dynamic page for each identity provider and service provider in the Federation, built from the MDUI elements and requested attributes provided by the site administrator

Here is an example of a page for a service provider that has submitted its MDUI information (the identity provider page is similar). Note that for those that have not provided MDUI elements, error messages will display in each field.
