DISCUSSION
SURFnet Meeting
Heather, Benn and Scott attended meetings with SURFnet in Amsterdam in mid-July.
Heather will make her notes available on the wiki if she receives permission SURFnet.
Ken's Report
• Ken says reassertion of attributes is a generic issue. There is a category of environments that do this reassertion.
• Ken has discussed this with Jeremy of NSTIC
• Reassertion is not shown on the NSTIC animation in order to keep things simple: http://www.nist.gov/nstic/animation.html
• Ken gave a talk at the recent Cloud ID Summit in which he mentioned the 2009 TAO of Attributes workshop http://middleware.internet2.edu/tao-of-attributes/
• Several folks expressed interest in continuing the TAO conversation, including the reassertion issue
• There were good conversations regarding when attributes get passed --- in the boarding process versus passed dynamically in each assertion
• Eve M. gave an interesting presentation about Smart Access Manager at Cloud Identity Summit
• Eve commented that federated identity invokes the need for scalable access control
[AI] (Ken) will send out a link to the Eve Maler presentation from the recent Cloud Identity Summit.
Ken's Talk with NSF
• Ken spoke recently with Kevin Thompson of NSF.
• Kevin is interested in receiving a proposal for the international VO CAMP.
• DOE may also potentially be interested in the VAMP work
Status and Roadmap Update
• Benn is working on data model refactoring, and this could take a few more weeks
• This work lays the basis for the onboarding and enrollment work
• No technical requirements came out of the SURFnet meeting, so no impact to the roadmap
FIFER API
• Work on the FIFER API is on hold, as Benn explained in a 16-July-2011 email to COmanage-TAC
• If wider community interest emerges at the upcoming joint venture talks, the FIFER work may become reinvigorated
• TomB commented that several times the Grouper team has tried to define a Grouper-independent API
• If the goal is something more than the simplest list, it turns into a fairly complicated project with many management operations
• TomB: it may be a misdirection to look for a simple group management API
Reports from the VOs
Project Bamboo - wait until Keith can join a call to get an update
iPlant:
• Heather is coordinating a meeting for August, including Nirav and Edwin
• Topics will include next steps, such as the user portal
LIGO
• Scott has been in communication with SURFnet regarding the LOFAR collaboration http://www.lofar.org/
• Scott continues to work on the VO use case that requires a neutral home
• A domain has been purchased where the collaboration can take place
• There may be new technical requirements that affect the COmanage work. Benn and Scott will discuss these.

Ken noticed the LTER VO that joined InCommon.
[AI] (Heather) will make contact with individuals from the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER)
